Internet Safety

Your personal privacy and online security is very important to us. As such, we have highlighted a short list of important notes to help keep you safe from outside threats. These threats are not unique to Fishing Depot but are an unfortunate part of all online activity. 

1. We will never ask for payment information outside of our PCI compliant payment system, including any in-person sales. 
2. We will never contact you via text message. All communications will be made through our official email domain: @fishingdepot.ca
3. We will never ask for passwords, Personal Identifiable Information, or other sensitive data to be communicated outside of Shopify. At most, we will direct you to our secure website where this information can be handled within our customer system. 
4. We will never share shortened website links such as "bit.ly". All links will be sent in full text (e.g. www.fishingdepot.ca)
5. We will never ask for any sensitive information over our Social Media accounts. Official accounts can be found at the bottom of our homepage, which you should definitely check out!

Material Safety

Some of our products contain lead. 

Chronic low-level exposure to lead has been associated with nervous system effects, cardiovascular disease, decreased kidney function and reproductive problems. Lead exposure in infants and children is associated with lowered intelligence quotient (IQ) and a greater risk of attention-related behaviours. No safe level of exposure is known to exist for these neurodevelopmental outcomes. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified inorganic lead compounds as probably carcinogenic to humans. Please take the proper precautions when handling our products and keep them out of reach of children who are more likely to ingest this toxic metal. Please consider the effects of lead on your own personal health and the effects on others and the environment.

Product Safety

Some of our products contain very sharp features/objects. Fishing Depot takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the safe delivery and acceptance of these items; however, due to the inherit nature of these products, please exercise caution when unpacking and handling these items. Keep all sharp objects in a safe place, out of reach from Children, Pets, and anyone/anything that may be injured, damaged, from these items.

Our hooks are barbed and are very sharp. With little force, our hooks can penetrate skin and cause serious, painful, and permanent injury to people and pets. By purchasing from Fishing Depot, you understand that Fishing Depot will do their part in ensuring that products are delivered safely and that customers are aware of these risks. Furthermore, you confirm that you are aware of these risk and that you will take all reasonable precautions to ensure that these items are managed carefully. You also agree that Fishing Depot will not be held responsible for injury and/or damages resulting from improper use, handling, and/or unsafe behaviour.
